How to Prevent and Treat Cancer With Natural Medicine

Much needed information
We are more than our symptoms. It is a natural progression, demand and supply, that one in three people in this country have experience with some form of alternative medicine. Currently there are four medical schools that off courses on Integrative medicine, and over twenty schools teach spirituality, healing and medicine. We are seeing a new generation of doctors of modern medicine trained and enlightened on holistic healing. Dr. Ian Smith, medical correspond for ABC, is one of the young doctors of this generation. Dr. Smith talks about natural healing, Chi and herbs whenever he is on the Today show. Having come from three generations of TCM - traditional Chinese medicine, and work with Chi energy healing, I see this book provides a timely overview of the available alliterative methods as well as some of the basics on prevention by living a healthy and balanced life. Cancer isn't necessarily an automatic death sentence anymore. Often times it is a manageable disease like arthritis. One can live with cancer and still achieve a good quality of life.

Prevention and Treatment of Cancer et al. by Michael Murray
The author provides very detailed protocols for treating cancer
with natural substances. For instance, he recommends 100 mg. of polyerga for treating colon, breast and certain carcinomas.
Citrus pectin is cited for metastasis of breast, lung and melanomas. Protective fibers may be emulated by utilizing
Ip6 and Inositol. At least 6 factors are cited for a successful
diet protocol for cancer; namely, fruits/veggies, detox
formulas, minimizing pesticide exposure, omega 3 -fish oils, reduction of junk food intake and low salts. Various compounds
are helpful in dealing with cancer; namely curcomin at 200-400 mg and proteolytic enzymes. Maitake mushrooms may be used
for colon, lung, stomach, liver/bladder and brain cancers.
These are just a few of the cited protocols. There are many more.
This book provides a wealth of information directed to the
alternative medicinal protocols which supplant or complement
the conventional approaches. Some of the dietary protocols may be useful in post-chemotherapy nutrition plans. The Burzynski Clinic of Houston, Texas is cited as an important
alternative medicine resource for cancer patients.
This book is a worthy addition to any personal library.

This is the most important cancer book ever written!
As a physician striving to keep pace with the rapidly growing science behind natural medicine, I have always found Dr. Murray's writing to be highly trustworthy, practical and just really great reading. This book is an excellent resource for anyone struggling with cancer. I am recommending it to all of my cancer patients and I have begun to incorporate many of the books recommendations into my practice. Thanks Dr. Murray for a fantastic book!

How To Make A Woman Want You!
Published in Paperback by Symphony Pr (01 December, 1999)
Authors: J. Murray Jason McAllister and Eric Weber
Average review score:

Finding out what women want
This fun forty-five minute video(yes, quite a chunk of change for forty-five minutes, hence four instead of five stars) is absolutely essential to those who are lost and always wondering what women look for in a man. I too seemed lost not too long ago, and constantly thought that women were speaking in other languages. Slowly, with the added help of this terrific video, I've built up my confidence and ego and freed myself of my old, bad habits. Thusly, I'm now quite content in my abilities around the ladies. This video taught me about those bad habits and showed me ways, a number at that, of improving myself not only in my eyes, but more importantly in women's.

Finally Figured Out What Women Want!
At last, the ultimate book to help men in their pursuit of women. This terrific, funny and incisive book tells all guys exactly what women like in a man and why. And that's what separates it from the rest of the pask, that is, it's truly an analytical adventure that delves deep into the mindset of both men and women to show how the two can connect without being totally inaccessable. Although the author can be a little harsh at times, it's only to try and break the routines and bad habits of the guys who might be interested in reading it. It did for me! Overall, a very informative and witty effort.

The Iliad (Loeb Classical Library, No. 170)
Published in Hardcover by Harvard Univ Pr (June, 1924)
Authors: Homer and A. T. Murray
Average review score:

An excellent tool for the study of ancient Greek.
I own both volume 1 and 2 of Loeb's Iliad. They are handy study tools. The books have Greek on the left and the English on the right. They're also both hardback and portable. However, the English translation is from the early 20th century. As far as translations go, it is not very modern. I've heard that Harvard Press plans to revise their Loeb series with modern translations, but I have yet to see this done for Homer. If the Greek is what is important-they're great. But if you also value the English translation-hold out for the newer publications

the best piece of literature ever.
This is the most exciting piece in the western literature. Iliad is a higly emotional poem and a philosophical text at the same time. It is also a realistic work, a very mature study of human nature. The greatness of the poem lies in the fact that the reader almost from the beginning knows what is going to happen at the end. The reader is been seduced by the powerfull emotions that the poem induces, and the wild beauty of the characters in it. Achilles wrath (after Patroclus death) and his desire to avenge him, already knowing that he is going to die immediately afterwards, is probably the most representative example of irony of destiny. The reconcilliation of Achilles with Priam, and especially the point where the latter kisses the hand of the former saying in effect: I kiss the hands that killed my son, please give me his body, is a cornerstone. The beatifull picture of Hector with his baby son which comes to tears been afraid of his own father after seeing him in his full armor, and the whole description of Hector as a good honest and family man, which has a whole city to support, but at the end to die in the hands of the war-machine Achilles, stays in the mind for ever. The wild scenes of Achilles dragging the body of Hector, or sacrifizing Trojan prisoners in his wrath for the death of his friend are few examples of the realism of the poem.

Overall this is not an ordinary creation. Homer himself was never able to repeat himself, for Odyssey is far way from this masterpiece. This is a poem where gods, humans, semigods, nymphs, passions, humanity, honesty, courage are all mixed in an unrepeated and majestic way. The power of images, characters and emotions is not to be surpassed. The deep connections of all these with the most fundamental character of the human nature, passes almost unconciously to the reader. The last sentence of the poem: ' and so the trojans burried Hector breaker of horses' leaves the audience almost shocked by the simplicity and power of the narrative. Read this poem, and see for yourselves that there is no substitute for a great talent.

In Pursuit of Happiness and Good Government
Published in Hardcover by Simon & Schuster (October, 1989)
Author: Charles Murray
Average review score:

Original and thought-provoking.
While his first book, _Losing Ground..._, made an argument that was based on an array of social science data, Murray here employs the mode of reasoning used by classical economists such as Say and Smith: common sense. When you get through his thought experiments, you'll find that you return to them again and again. Quite an invigorating book.

The Philosophy of Public Policy

Whenever Charles Murray writes, people listen. His book In Pursuit of Happiness and Good Government is no exception. This book gives a wake up call to anyone who has crafted or believed in modern political policy. The main problem the author views with our country's present policy system is the lack of understanding the point of our policies. He brilliantly asserts the reason behind anything the government does is the pursuit of happiness; a main point of the Declaration of Independence.

Insight Guides Barcelona (Insight Guides)
Published in Paperback by APA Productions (September, 1995)
Authors: Andrew Eames, Hans Hofer, Don Murray, Roger Williams, Brian Bell, Insight Guides, and Ansight Guides
Average review score:

Probably the best guide to this beautiful city.
The separate, removable map which is included makes this book worth the purchase. The map lists all sidestreets, which is necessary to navigate the city. The book itself gives just enough history to familiarize yourself with Barcelona and Catalonia, and then takes you on a neighborhood by neighborhood tour. Lots of good photos throughout. More detailed than the smaller compact version from the same company. Not quite as detailed as guides from other companies (e.g. doesn't include much for phone numbers or tourist tips), but is easier to read than they are.

excellant for all purposes
This was a comprehensive guidebook that gave enough information on all subjects to get you where you were going, tell you how to do things, and alert you to diverse sites and events that were especially interesting. Most important was its way of presenting enough historical, cultural, and political information to make one aware and able to navigate Barcelona's unique environment while at the same time exponentially increasing curiousity. We were working up until the time of our flight and skimmed the book en route. We had never been to Spain, didn't speak Spanish and yet spent two weeks in Barcelona without any difficulties and used only this book as our guide. As a direct result of the ease of use and interest the guide book piqued we bought and read many books on Catalonian history, political history, social culture, Picasso, Gaudi, architecture, etc. while we were exploring the city, making our two weeks of travel instead of a tour of cities into one of the more in depth, interesting trips we've ever taken. In three months we've given a copy of the book to two other families going to Barcelona, tracked down the other Insight Guides and begun to plan next summer's trip around one of them.

Intensive Care: A Doctor's Journal
Published in Hardcover by University of California Press (17 July, 2000)
Author: John F., Md. Murray
Average review score:

Intensive Care A Doctor's Journal
This is a clear, honest look inside the world of ICU. Concise, well-written, without the glitz and exaggeration served up by commercial TV in shows such as ER. This gifted physician shares his world view and realistically portrays the complexity and stresses of the day to day operation of an urban intensive care unit. Don't look for sentimentality here, this is more in the realm of science. Good job.

An honest look at life in the ICU
As an ICU nurse, I am often disturbed by the average person's expectations when a family member is treated in our intensive care unit. Too often, we are expected to perform miracles when at best all we can do is delay the course of nature for a few days or weeks while the family adjusts to the concept that their loved one is dying. This is frequently at the expense of the patient who is subjected to a long and uncomfortable death. Dr. Murray paints a true to life picture of what happens in the ICU by providing a day by day journal covering four weeks at San Francisco General Hospital. He provides an enlightening view of critical care that is both compassionate and accurate. His writing style is easy to understand, and the stories he tells of each patient he meets are compelling. He covers all; the successes, the failures, and those in between. Dr. Murray also addresses the ethical dilemmas facing us today regarding self determination and the allocation of scarce resources. A must read if you really want to know what happens to your loved ones in the ICU.

Introduction to Windows '98 Programming
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall PTR (16 April, 1999)
Authors: William H. Murray and Chris H. Pappas
Average review score:

step-by-step guide for windows programming
This introduction from ground up is quite good for starters of windows programming. You got to have experience with C++ and some MFC background. However, it seems the online source code, which was supposed to be free, could never be available from the ftp site, and no alternatives exist.

Nice intro to Window 98 programming
Introduction to Windows 98 programming is a good book for beginners. The good thing about it is that it concentrates on the true basics of Windows; that is the Win32. The authors progressively bring the reader throught the concept of Windows Programming and handling the basic resources. The only mention of MFC is in the last Chapter - this is good because MFC can be tough on the beginner. This book is good for the beginner.

Jewelry Making for Schools, Tradesmen and Craftsmen
Published in Spiral-bound by Bovin Pub (June, 1979)
Author: Murray Bovin
Average review score:

Jewelry Making For Schools, Tradesmen and Craftsment
This book is excellent, I have had trouble putting it down and getting down to some work. It gives lots of detail of how to do things and when I find something is not going right, I refresh my memory and find the correct way of doing it by looking through this book, having waited for this book some weeks and being unable to get it in the UK I found it well worthwhile.

A great jewelry-making manual for all silversmiths, any age.
This great old standard is a masterpiece of old fashioned straight talk. What I particularly like is that Bovin takes you along step by step, in an understandable manner. As you progress in skill the book gains in value because it is such a good reference book. ln fact it became a fixture in the shop. For my money, no matches for this book. I got my first copy in 1965, which I had to replace, due to age and damage inflicted by my 140+ students. My reccomendation is BUY IT!!! You won't regret it, I haven't..

The Kings and Queens of England: A Tourist Guide
Published in Hardcover by Encore Editions (October, 1974)
Author: Jane. Murray
Average review score:

Good Reading - Highly Informative
This turned out to be exactly what I was looking for when searching used book stores for a reference guide on the kings & queens of England. I've read it backwards & forwards and find that backwards is the best direction, as it is written in reverse chronological order. It's harder to keep track of your pages, but easier to keep track of the subjects of the book. I wish the book were longer.

favorable
A few years ago, I decided I wanted to learn more about the royal history of England. I uncovered Jane Murray's book on a dusty lower shelf of a bookcase, opened it, and, for the next few hours, thought of nothing but reading this wonderful book. The book is different from the beginning; rather than starting her narrative with the little-known history of Edward the Confessor, she begins with the reigning monarch and works back through history, going from the present day to the year 1005, rather than vice versa. The book is never dull; on the contrary, Murray's style is light and enjoyable, and I occasionally felt that I was reading a novel rather than a historical text. The novel is sometimes gossipy, which is, of course, quite interesting, in spite of the fact that most of the subjects have been dead for many centuries. Murray's ability to create a text that focuses on intresting bits of information while not neglecting important facts or major events makes her book fascinating. The only problem occurs when the reader, when trying to recall a particular order of events (such as who came first, Edward VI or Henry VI), may find that the reverse cronology of the text has made it difficult to remember.

Last Grizzly and Other Southwestern Bear Stories
Published in Hardcover by University of Arizona Press (December, 1988)
Authors: David E. Brown and John A. Murray
Average review score:

grizzlies and black bears in the southwest
Stories about particular bears and events in the southwest, from the 1820s to the present. Shows the changing attitude toward bears. Written by David Brown, who also wrote the very good book "The Grizzly in the Southwest: Documentary of an Extinction".

The Last Grizzly and other Southwestern Bear stories.
I could not put this book down!!! Wonderful stories about the Great Bear that roamed so much of the American West. This is really a history lesson about how our ancestors exterminated the Grizzly mainly due to not fully understanding this animal. Let this be a lesson for present and future generations on how to preserve the American Grizzly.
